Happy New Year from MAA. We are still in virtual learning if your child is struggling please call the school or email their teacher.
Help Our Kids & Save Money on Your Arizona Taxes!
The Arizona Extra-Curricular Activity Tax Credit is the main way we fund all of our extra-curricular activities. This includes the after-school musical, arts programs, field trips, and more!
If you, or anyone else you know, has Arizona State taxes taken from your paycheck or will owe State taxes this year, you can designate up to $200.00 for a single person, or $400.00 for a married couple of those taxes to go to the Academy.
Any Arizona taxpayer may participate. If you individually cannot participate this year, other family members, friends or coworkers can take advantage of this opportunity. This is not a donation. It costs you nothing. You will receive this back when you file your State taxes as a tax credit. Please contact Mrs. Oyer or Mrs. Koperno if you have questions.

December 2020 Newsletter
A word from Mrs. Koperno
This is a wonderful time of year, and it is exciting to see the joy in students’ faces during the holiday season! It can also be a very busy and stressful time. As the adults scurry around preparing for the holidays, children can also feel the stress and exhaustion brought on by all the activity. Please continue to support your child in their school success by ensuring a bed time is maintained at a reasonable hour. Adequate sleep supports learning, brain development, concentration, and mood, and so directly affects children’s success in school! Since we are in virtual learning, there will not be a December performance. We will continue to watch our health data and will let families know at the end of December whether we will stay in virtual or transition into hybrid.
On behalf of the staff have a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

November 2020 Newsletter
November is one of my favorite months of the year. The temperature is finally cool in the morning and beautiful during the day. The fall colors are in full swing and the holidays focused on family, gratitude, and caring are upon us. We have much to be grateful for here at Mesa Arts Academy. We have a wonderful, caring staff: from our janitor, our paraprofessionals, our office staff, to all of our teachers. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with all of them, and I know your children are in good hands. We have supportive parents and community, with a giving and engaged MAAPO at the forefront, to which we say thank you for all that you do to make Mesa Arts Academy the highly rated school it is today. And finally, we have incredible students who challenge themselves every day to learn and be engaged, as well as challenge us to become better people. They are why we are here every day!
We want to invite you to become more connected to Mesa Arts Academy. Please make sure our office has the correct email for you. You should receive email updates from us. If you don’t, then we want to make sure that you do. For some of you, it may be that your email settings block our messages. For others, it may be that we do not have accurate or updated information. Our website, www.mesaartsacademy.org, has contact information as well as calendars that you can use to help plan your year. We try to keep the website up to date with our Newsletters and important information throughout the year. We are on Facebook as well, and we post regular updates there. Please take a moment to like us on Facebook.
As I write this letter, our health data still requires us to continue with our hybrid. We will continue having Group A on Mondays/Tuesdays, and Group B on Wednesday/Thursdays. Friday will continue to be a virtual day. We will also continue to have on-site support Mon-Thurs, 7:15am – 3:30pm, and Fridays, 8:30am – 3:30pm.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

September 2020 Newsletter
Dear Mesa Arts Academy Families,
I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining MAA this year, as well as welcome back all of our returning families! I am honored to be your principal. Our goal at MAA is to work together to provide our students with a rich learning environment. My vision, as the principal, is to ALWAYS put kids first! My belief is that all students can learn. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles. In a collaborative effort, we want children to thrive in all ways possible. My hope is that all children will LOVE school and nurture a learning environment that is positive, safe, warm, and caring, and a fun place to learn and grow, as well.
Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community and this is MOST important now more than ever. It truly does take a village and, at MAA, we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture, and Team MAA greatly appreciates the support you provide for your children at home and at school to help them meet their learning goals. Without the support of parent contributions through our extraordinary Mesa Arts Academy Parent Organization, we would not have many of the programs that make MAA so unique and successful. Please consider joining the MAAPO monthly meeting in September.
Although this year looks different than any other year, we are dedicated to providing your child(ren) a memorable, interactive, and engaging distance-learning experience. In spite of the differences this year, MAA will be focusing on all the positives that we can take from this experience; as the role models in our little dragons’ lives, it is important that we display a positive attitude towards distance learning each and every day. I encourage you to do the same at home.
